Dominick took to Instagram to provide an update on his health
“I’m grateful to all of you who came out on Saturday, and for all the love and support here!” he wrote. “The body feels great and I’m thankful for my health. I’ll be seeing you all next up on September 10th at the desk.”
Having been dropped by Vera a couple of times in every, Cruz hasn't lost a step in his footwork and was ahead going into the 4th round 2-1. If it were a 3 rounder he could had gotten the win via decision.
Aljamain Sterling later commented that father time is undefeated hinting that Cruz can't take a shot as he used to but judging by his movement during the fight, Dominick's movement is still phenomenal especially at 37 years old.
Kenny Florian on the other hand said that no one really can tell if a fighter cannot take shots anymore and there was some technical issues that Cruz has done that led him take some unnecessary damage during the fight.
There was some speculations if Dominick will hang up the gloves as a result if his latest setback which will push back his 3rd title aspiration for a couple more years. He has stated before that his only reason in fighting is to win a championship and if these is not the case, he might as well walk away from the sport.
Whatever his decision will be, Dominick Cruz will go down as one of the greatest bantamweights of all time.
